I have this thing with Italian food that does not fade away. Baking this flavourful cake virtually brought me back to Sicily where we spent our holidays a few years ago. I have so many culinary memories from this place, the almond wine, the pastries and pasta were just mind-blowing. Have you ever been to Italy? If you’re a foodie like me (and if you NEED sunshine), you should definitely add this country onto your bucket list.
When fall and winter arrive, I am so so bad at eating fruits. I don’t know what it is but I don’t really fall for apples, pears and oranges. Devouring an entire basket of fresh cherries, that’s quite an easy game for me! But when it comes to peeling an orange and putting it in my mouth, I just can’t. I’ve created this smoothie to help me get more vitamins during the winter months because even though I’m picky, my body really needs it!
What happens when you go to the best Italian restaurant in town (I’m talking about “Ask for Luigi” in Vancouver) and you get a grasp of how delicious their olive oil cake tastes because your hubby lets you have a spoon or two (for the record, I did not order dessert because I thought I was full)? Well of course you want to try and see if you can bake as well as Luigi!
