Kale and Pineapple Smoothie

Starting the new season with a smoothie detox is always a great idea! I’ve tried a lot of funny smoothie recipes in my life, most of them I haven’t posted on the blog because they belonged to the green monster category (on top of a weird taste, they were so thick that I could barely swallow them). Anyhow, this kale + pineapple combo WAS a success: both super tasty and refreshing!

Among all the super healthy greens, kale is the king of the jungle! You won’t really get a clue that it’s in your glass because lemon, pineapple and mint completely take over in terms of flavor. But if you must know, 1 single cup of raw kale contains tons of vitamins A, K, C, B6, manganese, calcium, copper, potassium and magnesium. Isn’t it amazing?

When I prep myself a nice tall smoothie glass, I try to stay away from refined sugar. Which means I have to make sure I combine the right ingredients so that the smoothie is already sweet and tasty enough for me to do without maple syrup, brown sugar or agave syrup. It’s supposed to be a detox, remember 😉

Total Time: preparation 20 minutes

Serving: 4 glasses

Ingredients:

– the juice of 2 lemons

– 2 apples (I opted for pink ladies), peeled, seeded and sliced

– 1 pineapple can (398ml)

– 1 bunch of kale, stemmed and chopped

– 2 cups fresh mint leaves, washed

– 1 banana and 1 kiwi for the decoration

Directions:

Put all the ingredients in your kitchen blender and mix until smooth.

Add cold water to obtain the desired consistency. I usually add 0.5L.

Pour the smoothie into 4 tall glasses.

You can cut banana and kiwi shapes with cookie cutters for the decoration.

Enjoy!
